Heirloom Variety Box of Rare and Unusual Dates

Rancho Meladuco has been our go-to farm for California grown dates. A great snack, an ingredient in a recipe, or an addition to your cheese board, you’ll also discover some new flavors along the way. Their new two pound box is, as the name suggests, full of pitted heirloom dates that are likely less well known and definitely harder to find. They grow more than two dozen varietals, including old-world and new-world varietals including Abada, Empress, Mariana, Tarbazal, Honey and Riley. Each Heirloom Variety box is filled with a mix of whatever is ready to be harvested and comes with a seed planting kit so you can grow your own date tree.

Handwoven Indigo Blanket

Beautiful hand woven items are made in Stephanie Seal Brow’s Hudson Valley workshop, including this indigo blanket. A nice, smooth hand feel results from the mix of Egyptian cotton with wool from Maine. The two halves of the blanket are joined together with a black band, and the hems are finished with a blanket stitch. It measures 56″ x 76″

These intriguing rugs not only serves as attractive decor but also as a rich information graphic, telling the story of various textile techniques that have either become extinct or are currently endangered. Each rug’s design elements—such as lines, colors, and spaces—symbolize the history, endangerment status, materials, tools and reasons for the decline of 59 different textile techniques over more than 1,000 years.
