Volvo Unveils the Polestar 2
The functional sedan is the brand’s first fully electric car
Since the stand-alone brand appeared in 2017, Volvo‘s Polestar has been a pioneering force in the electric automotive industry. With ambitions of being a serious competitor in the all-electric sedans on the market, the new Polestar 2 is the marque’s first mass production car. The five-door sedan boasts a range of 275 miles and just over 400 horsepower, and the 78kWh battery powers its dual electric motors.
Where the soon-to-deliver limited edition Polestar 1 showcases the brand’s performance and design point of view, the riotous coupe is neither the most practical nor affordable for most owners and their families. The Polestar 2 is also the first car to be equipped with embedded Google services (Google Assistant, Google Maps and the Google Play Store)—the equivalent of an Android operating system.
The Polestar 2 (available in 2020) will cost just above $45,000 in the US. But, for the first 12 months, a special launch edition will be available for $63,000.
